Petition launched to protect the Nottawasaga River

AWARE Simcoe has launched a petition to ask the federal government to list the Nottawasaga River under new legislation. This petition is about rights. Until December, 2012, each and every Canadian had the right to travel on 40,000 lakes and 2.5 million rivers across the land.

Last year, the Conservative government repealed the law that protects that right and replaced it with a new law which applies to a list of only 97 lakes and 63 rivers. The Nottawasaga River is not on that list. We feel it belongs there.
