Idle No More Day of Action – bus itinerary and agenda

On Monday, the day MPs return to Parliament, Idle No More has declared a Day of Action in Ottawa. INM was founded to take a stand against the Omnibus bill which changed dozens of pieces of legislation, including the Indian Act, the Navigable Waters Protection Act and the Environmental Assessment Act.
Beth Brass Elson, AWARE Simcoe’s First Nations representative, says “We are looking forward to a day filled with Unity and Healing on The Hill. We will be there to assist the folks at Parliament Hill, begin their new year surrounded by the jingling sound of the Healing Dance.”

Cedar Point dock 4 am
Perkins field 4:30 am Outdoor rink centre
Elmvale 4:45 am- Catholic Church- north end of town
Barrie 5:15 am – Bayfield Mall back at Canadian Tire
Orillia 5:45 am – Metro – Laclie Rd. and Coldwater Rd.
Ottawa Arrive 11:00 am
Agenda for the day
11:00 AM Meet at Victoria Island at the sacred fire of the Algonquins.
Firekeeper Peter Decontie and Elder Josee Whiteduck will conduct the opening ceremony.
11:10 AM Assemble on Wellington in the Eastbound lanes. March towards Parliament Hill.
11:20 AM Meet up with Grandfather Drums and Jingle Dress Dancers. Let the Drummers and Jingle Dress Dancers lead with the Eagle Staff in front of the marchers.
12 NOON Arrive at Parliament Hill with Jingle Dress Dancers in the lead ringing their… message of protection for the waters, and healing for everyone.
A Healing song and an Honour song will be sung.
12:20 PM Chief Gilbert Whiteduck and an Elder will welcome us to Parliament Hill.
12:30 PM Scheduled speakers until 3:00 PM
3:00 PM A visual statement will be made with some help from the audience.
3:10 PM MaryAnne Caibaiosai and the Women’s Drum will lead a round dance on the Hill.
3:50 PM Elder smudges crowd for safe travel.
3:55 PM people head for the buses lined up along Wellington St.
4:00 PM End of day.
