WATER WATCHERS

It is getting SALTY in Ontario and the waters in the ground, flowing in rivers, and in lakes need your urgent action.

Ontario is the biggest user of salt in Canada through the winter period (responsible for nearly HALF of the road salt used across the country). Not only are we harming precious waters with the application of salt, we are also causing damage to cars, creating hazards through over-application of salt, and diminishing the lifetime of essential infrastructure like roads & bridges. It also negatively affects Ontario waters and ecosystems well past the winter and into the summer.

Water Watchers is part of a coalition of organizations and individuals across Ontario asking the Province to step up and prioritize urgent, meaningful action on salt pollution that is protective of water. Together, we are putting forward an Ontario Action Agenda for Salt Pollution and we are asking YOU to be a part of the change by taking action today.

Contact your MPP, Minister of Environment, Conservation and Parks Andrea Khanjin, & the Auditor General, and Doug Ford with this easy 1-click email tool. If you have an extra minute, it makes a huge difference to your representatives if you personalize your email as well!

Enough is enough. It’s time to cut the salts in favour of healthier waters for all life.

Yours in Water Protection,

Dani Lindamood
