Schreiner has filed an official complaint with integrity commissioner for ‘what seems to be pretty suspicious benefits flowing to a handful of speculators who also happen to be significant donors’ to PC Party
Guelph’s representative at Queen’s Park is asking the province’s integrity commissioner to investigate the premier and one of his ministers over a series of land purchases made in lands slated to lose environmental protections.
Provincial Green Party leader Mike Schreiner told the Mercury Tribune Tuesday he has filed a formal complaint with the Office of the Integrity Commissioner of Ontario against Premier Doug Ford and Municipal Affair minister Steve Clark, questioning whether they violated the Members’ Integrity Act.
“I think the public deserves to know, and hopefully the integrity commissioner will take up my call for an investigation and provide a report and to provide some transparency and clarity around what seems to be pretty suspicious benefits flowing to a handful of speculators who also happen to be significant donors to the (Progressive) Conservative Party,” Schreiner said of his complaint, filed Nov. 28.
According to the Toronto Star, Clark was asked Nov. 28 if “cronyism” was at play with the land swap, replying that “no, it’s a bold action by the government to ensure that we meet our housing target at the end of the day.”
Ford’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment for this story.
