I’m excited to be running for Mayor in Ramara Township.

I was raised in Orillia and area, and, after high school (ODCVI), I moved to Toronto to continue my education.

I worked in sales/management for a large international packaging company out of Toronto for 15 years, then changed my career to work as a program manager for a Canadian owned national merchandising consultant company. I managed high profile clients’ marketing plans, quoting, budgeting, executing and reporting results on their business plans.

Ramara has been my home for the past 17 years and I am PROUD to have been involved with our communities over the years. I was vice-president for two years and president for five years on the Bayshore Village Association Board. I volunteer as a Trustee on the Ramara Library Board, Committee of Adjustment and I’m chair of the Ramara Appeals Tribunal Committee.

In 2014 I successfully ran for Ward 2 Councillor. Over the four years, I was out and about in our communities. I was Transportation Liaison and had the privilege of working with residents across our Township. I had the exciting experience of sitting as a Simcoe County Councillor alternate, council representative on our Library Board, two of our Community Centres, vice-chair of the Policing Committee, and Lake St. John Home & Cottage Association.

In the 2018 election, I ran for Mayor and lost by 14 votes, which left me off Council but, still eager to be involved. I kept up to date on what was happening in our communities. I attended our township Committee of The Whole and Council meetings in public and on Zoom during the COVID lockdown and continued my volunteer meetings on Zoom.

I am committed to execute the duties and responsibilities of Mayor. I have a very good understanding of the vision and needs of our township, I am anxious to work with our residents, to listen and move our township forward to enhance the economic, social and environmental well-being of our communities and its residents.

Communication, transparency, honesty, integrity, focus, passion, respect, confidence and caring are needed for the residents to believe in me and my credibility. Facts and reputation are key. I have these qualifications and would look forward to becoming Mayor for the residents of Ramara Township.

On Oct. 24, 2022, I would appreciate your vote!

I am interested to know if Marg Sharpe would regulate short term rentals to limit their negative effect on their neighbours.
