County of Simcoe schedules virtual open house, public meeting on growth management

Residents will soon have a chance to become more informed about — and to provide input on — where and how growth is to occur in Simcoe County.
A virtual open house is scheduled for June 21 at 4:30 p.m., while a virtual public meeting will take place June 28 at 10 a.m. Both will occur via the Zoom video conferencing platform.
The population of Simcoe County is expected to reach 555,000 by 2051 — 54 per cent more than the current total of 361,000.
Determining where these newcomers will live and work is one of the goals of the county’s municipal comprehensive review, an ongoing process stemming from the province’s Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe.
Earlier this year, Hemson Consulting delivered a report indicating 63 per cent of the county’s population increase is forecast to occur in the south, mainly in Bradford West Gwillimbury, New Tecumseth, Essa Township and Innisfil.
