Jeff Lehman says the most basic part of leadership is showing up.
And he’s accusing candidates in the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario of failing to do that.
On May 22, Lehman, the Liberal candidate for Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte, held a press conference to talk about what he called a concerning trend observed at debates around the province ahead of the election.
“It appears that PC candidates have been instructed not to attend all-candidates meetings and media appearances,” Lehman said. “This is bad for our province, it is bad for democracy.”
Lehman claimed there are 63 ridings in Ontario where PC candidates have not attended debates. He said his PC opponent in Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte, incumbent Doug Downey, has attended one of three local debates.
