The Happy Hens of Utopia will be hosting a weekly open-air bake sale (along with jams, relishes and other preserves) at the utopia Hall every Saturday during the months of July and August, from 10am – noon.

Besides a great way to celebrate the many harvests in Ontario, quite honestly, it is also a way to raise funds for the good works at the Utopia Conservation Area. With the accessible walking trails and installation of eco-respectful washrooms now complete (thanks to our terrific partnership with the NVCA, Essa Township along with funding support from MEC, the Ontario Trillium Foundation and private donations), we need to focus back on our beloved gristmill. Monies raised from these sales (beyond the cost of the ingredients) will be directed to the important work of the Friends of the Utopia Mill and Park.

We will be sending out a list of baked goods that will be offered for sale on each Saturday (we are hoping to offer different items each week) but for this Saturday, here is what will be available:

• Pies (either strawberry rhubarb crumble or rhubarb custard) @ $15
• Banana Bread @ $5
• Bran Muffins @ 50 cents each or 6 for $5
• Italian Biscotti @ $5 (12 cookies in the bag)
• Chocolate Chip Scones @ $2
• Different varieties of jams including Black Currant, Niagara Peach, Strawberry, Persian Mulberry @ $4 per 125mL jar

We are super-committed to using very good ingredients including organic flour, organic sugar, eggs from Happy Hens (free range) with butter being our first choice. The fruits in many of our jams are grown in gardens of our supporters, provided to us through their kindness and generosity.
