Vickie Kee

By Letty and John McNeil

Our heartfelt sympathy to Theo, Julie, Jamie and all those who loved and cared about Vickie.

Vickie was a good friend and a great listener, and I will miss our chats in person and on the phone

We will never forget the important role Vickie played in the start-up of AWARE Simcoe & AWARE Tiny. Vickie was steadfast, dependable and committed to whatever role she took on.

Vickie was a member of the Committee that planned and organized the public meetings that were held across Simcoe County and led to the creation of AWARE. She arrived early at every meeting and greeted and registered all those who attended, contributing to the important recruitment of new members.

She was a board member of AWARE Simcoe for many years, and never missed a Simcoe County or Tiny Township Council meeting and recorded and reported items of interest to AWARE.

Vickie also participated in the planning and organizing of the first public held interviews of candidates running for council in Tiny Township.

She had a kind and cooperative manner that made it a pleasure to be a friend and to work with her.

May she rest in peace.

  1. Ann says:

    To Theo & Family,
So sorry to hear of Vickie’s passing.
May God’s love and peace surround you at this difficult time, and give you comfort to know that Vickie is now in the serenity of God’s embrace and not suffering anymore.
She was a wonderful woman and very passionate about helping to stop Dump Site 41, and her role as a Director on the board of AWARE Simcoe.
    She will be greatly missed.

  2. Elsie Maclaren says:

Vickie was a trooper and did all she could to protect the water and stop the dumpsite from happening. She was also a good friend to Aware Simcoe and always had a place to register people for meetings. Her records of attendance were helpful in adding members to Aware Simcoe. She will be missed.

  3. Mariane Cancilla says:

I have fond memories of Vickie as a person who put her beliefs into action; and who gave of herself to make others feel welcome. I am glad to have known her through the work of AWARE.

  4. Lynda Johnston says:

I remember Vickie from Site 41 and know how dedicated she was in protecting the land,as so many others did.My thoughts are with her family at this sad time.R.I.P.

  5. Margaret Curran says:

I offer my sincerest condolences to Vicki’s husband and their family on the death of their beloved Vicki.
Vicky’s influence will live on in all of us who had the good fortune to know her. -Vicki encouraged me to start a satellite group of AWARE in Essa Township.

People like Vicki, willing to volunteer their time to spread the word, make changes to the status quo.

If voters paid more attention at the municipal -local- government level, as Vicki suggested, they would elect moral politicians who had integrity and put the natural environment and future of Simcoe Country before developer’s shovels and lobbyists’ MZOs.

If voters paid more attention, they would elect people who would follow the policies laid down in the Environmental Act. -At present, amendments to the Environmental Act are helping to destroy the natural environment in Simcoe County and Ontario.

The Prime Minister has said he is updating the Environmental Act. In Vicki’s honour, we must ask Prime Minister Trudeau to put our right to have clean air, pure drinking water, old-growth forests, and plastic-free lakes, rivers, and streams, first.

We must continue Vicki’s quest to elect politicians who will protect our precious water, our verdant forests, and our rich living topsoil.

    Thank you, Vicki!
I suggest the members of AWARE Simcoe plant a tree in Vicki’s honor.
    Maggie
