From the Friends of Simcoe Forests

On October 19, 2020 The Friends of Simcoe Forests (FSF) submitted an application for judicial review to the Ontario Divisional Court. The purpose of the judicial review is to seek to overturn a recent decision by the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT). As a result of a joint request by the County of Simcoe and the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, LPAT struck out certain issues on FSF’s Issues List which are key to FSF’s appeal. It is our positon that LPAT’S decision was based on a Transitional Regulation that was invalidly enacted by the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. We have reason to believe that the Transitional Regulation is outside of the Minister’s jurisdiction.

The Divisional Court has scheduled a hearing date for our case to be heard on April 26th and 27th, 2021 in regards to the above noted matter. Please mark your calendars for this important date. We expect that the hearing will be accessible for the public to attend online and we are counting on you to show your support for the Friends of Simcoe Forests by virtually attending this hearing.
