Awenda has a deeply rooted artistic tradition that encompasses a number of iconic figures in Canadian history. Tom Thompson painted the park’s Giant’s Tomb Island, a number of the Group of Seven also fostered connections with the Southern Georgian Bay area. Awenda Inspired is designed to celebrate the park’s rich art heritage and provide an opportunity for students and the general public to interact.

The annual special event Awenda Inspired! has continuously lived up to its namesake in fall of 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2015. New emerging artists from the Ontario College of Art and Design participated and produced some beautiful works of art.

Once again Friends of Awenda organization and the OCAD University DRPT Faculty of Arts are hosting Awenda Inspired! Come out this October 1st to experience the park’s beautiful fall colours and landscapes while enjoying the art produced by OCAD students.

Between 10:30 am and 3:30 pm, OCAD students will be producing works of art along all four of Awenda’s beaches! Take the opportunity to meet and observe the artists at work while enjoying all that Awenda’s beauty has to offer.

Beginning at 4:15 pm, OCAD students will be displaying and sharing their work that was made on-site earlier in the day!
