Wasaga Beach bylaw officers have laid charges in connection with the removal of a number of trees at a local golf course.

At council’s coordinated committee meeting today, chief bylaw officer Doug Vincent confirmed charges had been filed in connection to tree cutting that took place at Marlwood Golf and Country Club in mid-February.

The trees were located in an area considered an Area of Natural and Scientific Interest and provincially-significant wetland, Vincent told the committee.

The investigation is ongoing, and the municipality will not release information on who has been charged until the matter is heard by the court on June 21.

The charges fall under the municipality’s tree-cutting bylaw.
