The foundation has been set to create a Main Street Market on the beachfront this summer.

At council’s Jan. 19 committee of the whole meeting, committee accepted a series of recommendations to hire an architect and contractor to build market kiosks, as well as a beachfront pub that will be the home to Wasaga Beach Brewing Company.

However, not all the recommendations were unanimous, as Deputy Mayor Nina Bifolchi and Coun. Sylvia Bray – who have raised concerns at various points in the process – continued to challenge the concept based on sole-sourcing the pub to one business, as well as the revenue and expense projections put forward by the town’s director of economic development and tourism, Andrew McNeill.

Bray, who raised a similar concern at the committee’s December meeting, told McNeill “the math doesn’t work” when she reviewed the revenue and expense expectations.
