Old-style sprawl has left us with huge municipal debts, degraded water, damaged health and destroyed farmland and forests. That’s dumb, especially when there’s a blueprint for smarter growth.

Tell Ontario to say goodbye to dumb growth. We can build walkable, transit-friendly communities while protecting farms and forests.

Our new report, From Dumb Growth to Smarter Growth, identifies actions that the province should take to replace dumb growth (sprawl) with smarter (more compact) growth across the Greater Golden Horseshoe, a region that includes the GTA and goes from Peterbrough, to Waterloo, Orillia to Niagara Falls.

By focusing growth near transit hubs, growing up and in rather than out, and growing the Greenbelt, we can have a protected countryside and create vibrant neighbourhoods that are better for our health, environment and wallets. (Check out this nifty infographic on the benefits of smarter growth.)
