Strengthen and Expand

From Food & Water First
“We are fortunate to have the best soil and climate conditions in the country. These natural gifts have helped grow the largest agri-food sector in Canada, feeding millions of people here and elsewhere.  We must not squander these gifts. We strongly urge you to tighten the protections for the vital farmland, forests and water resources within the Greenbelt, Niagara Escarpment, Oak Ridges Moraine and Greater Golden Horseshoe Plans.  Rare farmland – unique to the country and world – should be protected in perpetuity, not threatened or destroyed in perpetuity.
We also strongly recommend the four provincial plans be expanded to include far more of Ontario’s prime agricultural soils and water resources.”
This is an excerpt from the submission made by NDACT and Food & Water First to the committee reviewing the four provincial plans. Pour yourself a cup of coffee or tea, and read it here: Land Use Review Submission
The deadline for submissions is May 28th. You can use this letter for your own submission. Add your own thoughts or expertise! Have Your Say
Town Hall Meetings continue and others have been added to the list. The next one is Thursday in Vaughan. For the full list: Greenbelt Town Hall Schedules
