Adjala-Tosorontio has an outstanding debt owed to New Tecumseth regarding provisions of parks and recreation services for its residents that dates back to 2011, equals about $111,000 annually, that remains unsettled, though the Township has collected the monies from its taxpayers. Those funds are being held in reserve pending a resolution. The Township has complained it’s being overcharged, and led by now deputy mayor Doug Little, has balked at paying the rates. New Tecumseth has threatened in recent years to nullify the deal, which would then require Adjala-Tosorontio residents to pay out of town fees when accessing programs in New Tecumseth.Recently, the Adjala-Tosorontio council proposed to pay New Tecumseth $50,000 annually for the next four years, to continue the parks and recreation service agreement. New Tecumseth council has yet to deal with it.
