Write a letter objecting the gravel pit

Letter from Chantale Gagnon, president, Everett Ratepayers’ Association
Many of you were present at the meeting yesterday, but in any case you were not, please will find attached some information. It consists of the pamphlet with the process and where you can send your objections letters by March 9, as well as a pdf with list of issues that you could bring up in your letters. As it was well explained to us yesterday, it’s not enough to say that you don’t want a quarry you have to say why you don’t want it. The Ministry of Natural Resources are particularly interested in environmental issues.
This quarry is the closest we’ve had to the core of Everett. It would run north-west from Sideroad 5 all along County Rd. 13 almost all the way to Summerville. A couple of house are cut outs on the map, so these poor homeowners would be straight in the middle of all this.
The most pressing issue for many is water. The quality and quantity of our drinking water is at risk. They will dig below the water table. The Boyne is in the way. 4000 gallons of water a minute they will use. Our water!
Noise, 1 truck every 85 seconds driving 100KM/hr (coming straight from their own documents), gravel crushers, noise, dust you name it.  I’m not even going to start on the impact it’ll have on our environment, rivers, birds, plants and fish habitat.
Let’s show them that they cannot just waltz in our town and take our resources for granted. Please don’t rely on others to send a letter for you. Send one, have your children send one, have your spouse send one, have your friends send one. Anyone in Ontario can send a letter. Why not Aunt Maud in Kitchener? Everyone can put their 5 cents worth and the more do, the longer we’ll stall the process. Personalize your letter, tell them why you don’t want it (ideas are attached), make it loud. You must have your address and full name on the letter. Important: it must be sent by March 9th!
Thanks for joining us in this fight.
