Midlanders on the hook for removal of ash trees

MIDLAND – The emerald ash borer has invaded Midland, and residents are on the hook for the cost of treating or removing their ash trees – up to $3,000 per tree.

The insects are a “significant problem,” said Bryan Peter, director of parks and recreation.

“The emerald ash borer has certainly moved into our area. It has been identified here and in Barrie and into Muskoka and North Bay.”
