Penetanguishene rules out new environmental study for Rolling Sands lands
Town committed to development and growth, says Coun. Debbie Levy

PENETANGUISHENE – Penetanguishene council rejected a staff request last week to halt development on Rolling Sands lands until a second environmental study could be completed.
“I don’t support this motion. We are pretty committed to some development and some growth,” said Coun. Deb Levy. “We have the information we need to not hold up our plans and move forward.”
Rolling Sands is a section of land from Fuller Avenue to Church Street and Cambridge Street to Kerr Drive.
Last year, the town approved an environmental impact study to identify “ecologically significant areas of Rolling Sands that should remain undeveloped,” according to a report submitted to council Oct. 29.
