Leo Longo

From Jack Gibbons North Gwillimbury Forest Alliance

This morning, our lawyer, Leo Longo, made an excellent submission to the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (LSRCA) and asked them to eliminate the Maple Lake Estates (MLE) Loophole now. According to Mr. Longo, the MLE Loophole is simply illegal and there is nothing keeping the LSRCA from eliminating it immediately.

However, on December 11th, the LSRCA’s lawyer asked LSRCA staff to prepare a thorough review of the watershed development policies of the 10 GTA-area conservation authorities.   The LSRCA’s lawyer will use the staff report to prepare his legal opinion on this issue.

The LSRCA will be holding a special board meeting in January 2014 to deal with our request that the MLE Loophole be eliminated. (To read the staff report that recommends that this issue be deferred to a special January meeting please click here.) We will, of course, keep you informed about when and where this meeting will take place.
