A Day In The Park – Sovereignty Sings – Honoring Our Fathers
From Idle No More’s Facebook Event page May 29 2013
On Father’s Day we will honor our Fathers with food, games, crafts, dancing, drumming and live music. We will host this event at Springwater Park, where Camp Nibi is also located. Camp Nibi is under a land reclamation. This concert is hosted in support of Sovereignty in peaceful actions.
Camp Nibi was established on April 1st 2013 in response to province’s decision to render Springwater Park non-operational. Camp Nibi is Sovereignty in Action. The women’s reclamation of the space is about protection. Protection of the lands, waters and animals. Their goal is conservation of this natural space, and to help them in their peaceful protest, ask you to support them by joining us for A Day In The Park, Honoring our Fathers.
From Tori:
See Springwater Park Citizens Coalition page for a sneak peak at one of our performers on June 16th. Tyson King is a member of Moose Deer First Nation who lives in Barrie. Although this is a cover of his favorite song to sing, he writes and performs his own originals!!
Mark it on your calendar and drop in from noon to 8 pm. on Sunday June 16th.
