The Great Lakes need your help.
We are asking all citizens of Tay Township and our surrounding communities to petition the federal, provincial and American governments to save Lake Michigan, Lake Huron and Georgian Bay from declining water levels that affect all of us and our way of life.
There is a solution.
Midland Mayor Gordon McKay has offered to compile the petition data he receives, as part of an ongoing plan to petition governments and work with the Seirra Club in its presentation to these governments.
All you need to do is e-mail Mayor McKay at gmckay@midland.ca, to voice your opinion. Include your name, civic address and your concerns.
If you do not have a computer you can go to any library in Tay and send one from there. The librarians would be happy to help you.
The next meeting will be held on March 14 at the North Simcoe Recreation Centre in Midland at 7 p.m. You can bring your petition with you and find out what can be done.
The Tay Township website outlines the cause and effect on its website www.tay.township.on.ca. Just follow the link to Georgian Bay low water levels.
Other ways to petition include contacting Simcoe North MP Bruce Stanton at bruce.stanton@parl.gc.ca, or Simcoe North MPP Garfield Dunlop at garfield.dunlop@pc.ola.org.
If you go to the website Restore Our Water, you can petition or e-mail Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
