The blogger who has been pursuing information relating to financial decisions by Collingwood council has called for a protest this afternoon outside Town Hall.
Steve Berman posted the call yesterday on his blog Enough is Enough
Among a number of requests to council, Berman suggests they stop blacking out Freedom of Information (FOI) requests. His blog shows as an example a page of a document released to CBC News in which every word is blacked out. Berman, whose Facebook page refers to his bid for a council seat – also calls for an election and volunteers to raise the $60,000 cost.
CBC News reported last week that Ontario Provincial Police are investigating allegations of corruption and conflict of interest involving the sale of half of the town’s public utility’s electrical distribution business, the sale of waterfront land, the contract to build domed structures over a community pool and ice rink, and a proposed casino.
