Nina Bifolchi, Councillor for the Town of Wasaga Beach, was elected Chair of the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority Board of Directors at the NVCA’s Annual General Meeting on January 25, 2013. Bifolchi served as Vice Chair for the 2012 term.
“I am very pleased that I have been given the opportunity to act as Chair for the NVCA Board,” said Bifolchi. “I look forward to working with our Board, member municipalities, NVCA staff and private property owners to find a fair, balanced approach between our environment and development pressures that are financially feasible and beneficial for all. I am committed to helping the NVCA continue to be an integral, efficient and sought after organization for our watershed.”
Darren White, Councillor for Dufferin County and Deputy Mayor for the Township of Melancthon, served in 2012 as Second Vice Chair, and was elected Vice Chair for the 2013 term.
“I have always been a big supporter of environmental initiatives and sustainability. To that end I look forward to working with the NVCA in promoting smart conservation programming, responsible development and fiscal responsibility,” said White.
Walter Benotto, Councillor for the Town of Shelburne, announced late last year that he would be stepping down as Chair after his fourth consecutive term, and he will be serving as Past Chair in 2013.
“I want to congratulate our new chair and vice chair,” said Benotto. “It seems like just yesterday that I became chair, and it has been an interesting four years. As Past Chair I will continue to work with our Chair, Vice Chair and the Board to advance the protection our natural resources for future generations.”
The Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority is a public agency dedicated to the preservation of a healthy environment through specialized programs to protect, conserve and enhance our water, wetlands, forests and lands. The NVCA’s jurisdiction is approximately 3,700 square kilometres and includes 18 municipalities in the counties of Simcoe, Dufferin and Grey.
