Simcoe County asks MNR for 12-month delay on closing park

(At today’s Simcoe County Council meeting) Springwater Township Mayor Linda Collins amended the motion that asked the Ministry of Natural Resources to keep Springwater Park operational. Mayor Collins wants another 12 months to build consensus within the community.
The SPCC opposes this revision because we believe it is unfair to the community considering the bad faith history of the various levels of government since October 2012. Another 12 months of being frozen-out of discussions isn’t likely to make an injustice, just.

We find it interesting that the Mayor chose to only mention one of the two community groups and that she chose the one that is Barrie-based. Our group (the unnamed one) is Midhurst-based, and has +50 years in the community  has an executive equally drawn from Barrie and Springwater Township. Les Stewart is a member of the SPCC, AWARE Simcoe and the Midhurst Ratepayers’ Association, newly-formed Finance Committee.  
Until this time, it had been the practice of the Township of Springwater to acknowledge both community groups
