Eagles’ nest removed to make way for wind turbines

One of the saddest things that I have witnessed in a long time
Nextera, wind corporation planning to invade a number of our communities, removed an eagle’s nest yesterday with the blessing of the Ministry of Natural Resources. The habitat destruction will not end with the eagles, the migratory birds or the animals in the forests that are too close to the vibration and noise of the turbines—it will extend to the destruction of OUR habitat.

They claim that they will relocate it, but as everyone knows, even if their intentions are altruistic, the eagles will not heed the change of mailing address that Next Terror will leave at the stump of their active nesting tree.  This is truly a case of habitat displacement.  And, the MNR were OK with this.
More on this devastation will be posted in a video on the web site, but I just wanted to remind everyone that we really need to look closely at the pictures of destruction that are on the OWR web site as the heavy equipment rips and tears through the rural countryside.
I am so saddened by today, but I’m glad that I witnessed this horrible event, as I have become even more determined to continue the fight, and I hope that everyone reading this will also be inspired by the injustice of what is happening, in our communities, to stand up and say, “No More!”  There is no reasoning with our elected officials, but it’s time to unite and to take a hard stand against further habitat destruction; because, the habitat destruction will not end with the eagles, the migratory birds or the animals in the forests that are too close to the vibration and noise of the turbines—it will extend to the destruction of OUR habitat.
I hope that the picture and the video that soon will follow will inspire everyone on this list to do what ever they can to help put an end to this.  I know that this has been a long and arduous fight, but we cannot stop now—we need to fight for those—like the eagles—who cannot fight for themselves.
After witnessing this horrible event today, I have renewed vigour for the fight; as I know that ALL living creatures in the path of turbines will be displaced.
“I feel that we should not only maintain gentle, peaceful relations with our fellow human beings but also that is very important to extend the same kind of attitude toward the natural environment.”  The Dalai Lama
With a very saddened heart,
Muriel Blair
