By Vickie Kee AWARE News Network November 30 2012
Councillor Claire was absent.
R.J. Burnside and Associates presented an update on the Septage Management Class EA Study Phase 3&4. The cost will be in the $400,000+ range. There was a discussion by council as to whether the cost of septage management should be separated from the 2013 budget.
Mayor Millar made it clear that he does not support the “Made In Tiny” solution for this septage issue. He introduces a notice of motion not to include the cost of the septage in the new budget. This motion was defeated 3-1 at the evening meeting.
Beach restoration study
Tiny Township has just paid out, on November 26, 2012, $32,431 to Coldwater Consulting Ltd. for the Lafontaine Beach Restoration Study. I would think that the lower water levels in Georgian Bay would have some effect on the results of that study.
Advantages of conservation authorities
Sandy Agnew, on behalf of AWARE Simcoe, made an oral submissiion to council reguarding the Advantages Of Municipal Membership in a Conservation Authority. The current CAs in Simcoe County and the Conservation Authorities role in the planning process as it relates to the Simcoe County Official Plan and CA educational programs are just some of the items that he discussed.
Recording of meeting
Mayor Millar asked staff if the day’s meeting was being recorded. CAO/clerk Luker replied that the recording will probably start in the new year as directed by council.
