Deputy-Mayor Lawrence chaired the meeting. Mayor Millar was absent.
Deputy-Mayor Lawrence informed council that a letter was sent out to the North Simcoe communities, meaning
Penetanguishene, Midland and Tay regarding an issue on the Great Lakes without discussion or approval of Tiny
council. This letter has the Tiny Township stamp on it and was signed by Mayor Ray Millar.
The content is not the issue, the process by which it was sent out is, said Councillor Claire. Perhaps there needs to be some letters sent out to these communities to explain what happened, says Deputy-Mayor Lawrence.
Council has given permission for Sandy Agnew of AWARE Simcoe to make a presentation about the advantages of
municipal membership in Conservations Authorities. This will include a request for North Simcoe municipalities to
seriously examine how best to protect the environment in the future. This presentation will take place at the next
Tiny council meeting on Monday November 26, 2012 at 9:00 AM.
Councillor Claire brought to the attention of council that if a member is going to be absent from a council meeting,
he or she should properly inform someone on council so that all of the members know before the meeting starts.
At the moment, there is no formal process but in the future, the clerk should be notified so that he or she can tell
the other members of council before the meeting starts, said CAO/clerk Luker.
Councillor Warren asked Fire Chief Mintoff who should residents call when someone is burning something that is
not allowed under the Tiny by-law at 12 midnight. Mintoff replied that the resident should phone 911 because
there is no by-law officer on duty at that time of night.
