This month’s selection for SHARE’s Environmental Film Series is “Surviving Progress”, which presents the story of human advancement as awe-inspiring and double-edged. It reveals the grave risk of running the 21st century’s software ” our know-how ” on the ancient hardware of our primate brain which hasn’t been upgraded in 50,000 years.
With rich imagery and immersive soundtrack, filmmakers Mathieu Roy and Harold Crooks launch us on a journey to contemplate our evolution from cave-dwellers to space explorers.
“Surviving Progress” leaves us with a challenge: To prove that making apes smarter was not an evolutionary dead-end. The discussion after this film should be very lively!!
Thursday, November 29th at 6:45pm, Midland Library Assembly Room (downstairs). Admission by donation. Refreshments provided – please bring a mug.
Please pass this email on to all your family and friends in our area. We have room for lots more people at these film nights – let’s fill the room!
RSVP to s.hirst@rogers.com or call Susan at 705-527-0922.
