Tiny Council Meeting September 10, 2012
By Vickie Kee AWARE News Network September 17 2012
It looks like the township has to defend themselves again over ownership of a piece of beachfront. Lawyer Fred Hacker, representing property owners at Ossossane Beach, has requested for leave of council to make an oral submission. Deputy-Mayor Lawrence comments that the township owns the beach. Public Works Manager, Henk Blom, suggests that there be no more discussion until the in-camera part of the meeting.
Deputy-Mayor Lawrence brought to the attention of council that the Official Plan Amendment No. 13 on the Tiny OfficialPlan has been refused by the Corporate Services Committee at the County Of Simcoe. The township undertook a study entitled “Visual Landscape Guidance For Industrial Wind Energy Facilities” which was finalized in June 2009. This study identified “management zones,” setbacks and the Official Plan policies. This Official Plan was supposed to limit the siting of wind turbines to less sensitive landscapes. A decision has been agreed upon by Tiny Council to accept the refusal by the County and try to work on a solutiion by the staff of both, the Township and the County. Deputy-Mayor Lawrence presented this information to the Corporate Services Committee on September 12 and will be brought up again on September 25 at County Council for their decision on the matter.
The Township is looking at the possibility of buying a piece of land next to the Wyebridege Community Centre.
Deputy-Mayor Lawrence has resigned from the Accesibility Committee, effective August 29, 2012. Mayor Millar has
volunteered to replace him.
