BARRIE – Barrie’s JEBCO will be increasing employment in order to fulfill its new contract for Canadian Oil Sands.
The company will process nearly 1.32 million pounds of steel through its Barrie facility to fulfill its contract with Canadian Natural Resources Limited, one of the largest independent crude oil and natural gas producers in the world.
The construction of 21 tanks for a project in Western Canada will require more than 30,000 production hours, and the company will be hiring more skilled workers.
Mayor Jeff Lehman said, “JEBCO is a global leader in the manufacturing of metal fabricated process equipment for mining industries. We are proud that they have continued to expand their manufacturing business in Barrie and that their success is seeing increased employment opportunities for residents and supply opportunities for local businesses.”
The company has added seven new staff members since winning the contract, joining the nearly 100 people running two shifts at the facility on Ellis Drive.
Company President, Brent Murray, said, “We are proud to be part of the Barrie business community, and our continued growth this year puts us in a position to be able to add another 20-25 staff to our team in a variety of areas including skilled trades such as welders, fitters, machinists and millwrights in addition to engineering, purchasing and material handling support.”
