AWARE Simcoe members extend their deepest condolences to the family of Andrew Mixemong, his colleagues at the Georgian Bay Native Friendship Centre, and the people of Chimnissing (Beausoleil First Nation).
“Our community is in mourning over the brutal attack of one of our members,” said Beth Brass Elson, First Nations member of  the AWARE Simcoe board. “A sacred fire has been lit in honor of Fudd (Andrew) and my heart goes out to our community for their loss.”
“We are greatly saddened by this tragic death,” said AWARE Simcoe chair Don Morgan. “During the Site 41 battle, we learned from our First Nations friends that there is a better way to be with each other and with our world.
“We also learned that our First Nations friends are targeted in ways that are not experienced by the majority of the population. This has to change.”
