Wednesday July 4: Meeting on Severn solar ‘farm’ issue

AWARE Severn’s Cindy Hillard and Nancy Robinson of Simcoe Solar Farm Awareness Project have called a meeting regarding the Recurrent Energy construction of solar farms in Severn. 

Mayor Mike Burkett requested the meeting to get public input: Hillard says this is an issue the mayor has been working hard on and needs public support. 

Members of the AWARE Simcoe board will attend and we’re calling on any one interested in the issue of using productive agricultural land for solar ‘farms’ to be there. A problem is the failure by Recurrent Energy to provide site-specific soil studies. 

The Ontario Ministry of Energy and the OPA are also taking the position that the soil studies are not public information. The meeting will be held at the Coldwater Arena (upstairs) at 8:30pm Wednesday July 4/12.
