Deputy-Mayor Lawrence presented to council the idea of a golf tournament and special dinner to honour Gord
Leonard of Tiny Township for his hard work and determination in stopping Dump Site 41 from becoming a reality.
Our friend, Gord, passed away last month so the plaque will be presented, at the dinner, to the Leonard family,
who have agreed to accept it, in his honour. This tournament and dinner is,also, to support The Georgian Bay
General Hospital. It is still in the planning stages so date, time and place will be announced shortly. All of council
is in support.
Balm Beach picnic tables
A staff report on allowing picnic tables in front of the Georgian Grill at Balm Beach was brought forward by CAO/
clerk Doug Luker. These tables would be a donation to the township and available to the public but no alcohol will
be allowed. Signs will have to be installed says Councillor Warren. Councillor Claire announced that Summerama at Balm Beach will soon be here. He would like to see the road closed
in this area for the event because of safety issues. Last year, pony rides were available along the side of the road.
Heavy garbage leftovers
It was heavy garbage pickup in Tiny a few weeks ago and the County only picked up a portion of the garbage.
Tiny is responsible for the rest, said Luker. The rest will be picked up and taken to Collingwood.
