Info from Clearview Community Coalition June 19 2012
The Joint Board decision on the Walker Brothers quarry was released today and we regret to report that the quarry application was approved 2 to 1.  The two OMB members approved the application and the Environmental Review Tribunal member wrote a dissenting decision.  The link to the decision is below.
The dissenting member, Mr. Wright, an Environmental Review Tribunal lawyer wrote a 100 page decision outlining how Walker had failed to meet the tests for minimal impairment of the environment as required by the Niagara Escarpment Planning and Development Act.
CCC and the NEC should be proud of the case that we brought before the Joint Board to protect the long term sustainability of the Niagara Escarpment and to present a more economically sustainable future for the Township of Clearview.
