It is with great regret that AWARE Simcoe  announces the passing of Gord Leonard, owner of Huronia Nurseries and leader, through the Why Wye group and then the Stop Dump Site 41 group, of the fight to stop construction of a dump site atop a precious aquifer.
The following is the notice from the family:
September 27, 1947-May 12, 2012 It’s with the greatest sadness and broken hearts the family announce the passing away of Gordon Leonard (Huronia Nurseries, Wyevale). Son of the late Milton and Hilly Leonard. Loving husband and best friend of Beverley. Dedicated father to Darrell & his wife Kim. Predeceased by infant daughter April. Fabulous grandpa to Justin & Tyler. Dear brother to Alvin (Martha), Ross (late MaryAnn) & (Carol), Dennis (Pat) and Kevin (Tracy). Dear son-in-law to Don & Grace MacDonald and brother-in-law to Ken & Mae MacDonald. Gordon will be sadly missed by his many relatives, neighbours and friends that were made during his strong opposition towards Dumpsite 41 along with his neighbour and friend Steve Ogden.
A Celebration of Life for family & friends will be held at Wyebridge Community Centre, Wyebridge on Sunday, May 27 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
