AWARE Simcoe Annual General Meeting
Posted April 26 2012
AWARE Simcoe is hosting a public meeting in Barrie on energy and the cost to society of our current system, in financial, social and environmental terms.
Residential electricity prices have risen nearly 50 per cent in recent years. Renewable sources like wind and solar are being blamed, while at the same time Ontario is preparing to spend billions in taxpayers’ dollars on the high-priced, high-risk nuclear option.
There are many alternatives – green energy efficiency, hydro imports from Quebec, and combined heat and power (CHP) are just a few. Three knowledgeable panellists will present their perspectives and the public is encouraged to participate with concerns and ideas.
Speakers are Jack Gibbons of the Ontario Clean Air Alliance; Marty Lancaster, a renewable energy and Feed-In-Tariff program specialist; and Susan Hirst of the Simcoe Huronia Association for Renewable Energy.
The meeting is set for Saturday, May 26, 2012, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Grace United Church, 350 Grove Street East, Barrie, ON.
NOTE: This meeting is AWARE Simcoe’s Annual General Meeting. An election of officers will take place at the start of the meeting.
