NORTH SIMCOE – The census numbers are in – and they’ve left three of four north Simcoe mayors less than happy. Statistics Canada officially released the 2011 census data on Feb. 8, revealing the Town of Midland experienced a 1.5 per cent population increase to 16,572 in 2011 from 16,330 in 2006.

In a trend seen throughout Ontario, North Simcoe, for the most part, has experienced little growth over the past five years. Penetanguishene mayor Gerry Marshall was surprised by the results.
