Barrie property taxes up 3% this year

They didn’t just whittle, Barrie councillors cut the city budget Monday night.
A proposed 4.9% property tax increase this year was carved down to 3.03%, as councillors reduced costs on everything from capital works and debt to fire equipment and computer software during a nearly four- hour debate of the 2012 business and capital plan.

BARRIE – A lower tax increase will come at the cost of higher snowbanks, longer waits to hire city staff and delays to projects to reduce interest.
