Star-studded musical line-up to accompany 80 of Canada’s best chefs to help Stop The Mega Quarry
News release September 22 2011
Honeywood, ON – On Sunday, October 16th a host of celebrity musicians will set the score as more than 80 of Canada’s top chefs cook up a storm for 20,000 hungry people to save precious farmland from a proposed mega-quarry.  Jim Cuddy will be entertaining the crowd, as will be Sarah Harmer and other Canadian music scene celebs: “Happy to lend a hand to people who are trying to preserve the sanctity of water and arable land,” offers Jim. “If a little music can help open some peoples’ eyes to the risks we are facing up here then I consider myself lucky to be able to help.”  The event, known as FOODSTOCK, is taking place in a small farming community north of Orangeville, and promises to live up to its ‘60s era inspiration, with an anticipated crowd of 20,000 people in attendance. It’s a pay-what-you-can event spearheaded by celebrated chef Michael Stadtländer, and features gourmet dished prepared by more than 80 of Canada’s top chefs—including Jamie Kennedy and Canoe Restaurant’s Anthony Walsh.  “It’s probably just me, but I much prefer rolling hills of fertile soil and delicious fruits and vegetables over gigantic pits of dust and chemicals,” winks Toronto-based alt country singer-songwriter Hayden.  The complete musical line-up includes Tom Barlow, Cuff The Duke, Hayden, Jim Cuddy, Sarah Harmer, The Loon Choir and a whole host of amazing buskers. FOODSTOCK will take place on Sunday, October 16th from 11:00 to 5:00 at the Frenchs’ farm just west of Highway 124 at Conover, Ontario, north off the 20th Sideroad.
