Thank you to AWARE Simcoe for hosting panel discussion
Letter to Simcoe.com June 30 2011
Although saddened by what I heard, I thank AWARE Simcoe for hosting a panel discussion on Saturday, June 25 in Alliston concerning the Highland Companies mega quarry in the works in Melancthon Township, Dufferin County.
Members of NDACT (North Dufferin Agricultural and Community Task Force), Dale Goldhawk, Canadian broadcaster and investigative reporter, Melancthon Deputy Mayor Darren White, Jeff Monague of the Beausoleil First Nation, and others spoke about the various aspects and considerations inherent to such a major alteration of the land.
At the very least, such a project ought to be subject to a provincial environmental assessment.
