Simcoe County council appears set to declare “surplus” a portion of the former Site 41 property so it can be sold. The county clerk has issued a notice indicating the county’s intention and identifying three parcels of land that would be sold and one parcel – described as ‘disturbed’ – that would be retained.

It is with utter shock and disbelief that over the weekend I learned that Simcoe County staff has suddenly decided to put Site 41 land up for sale immediately — but not including the disturbed area that contains the dump infrastructure since it’s been rendered unusable for agriculture.
