‘Very few matters permitted to be discussed in closed session’- Prothero
Letter from Councillor Jess Prothero New Tecumseth Free Press Online June 1 2011
The allegations contained in the lawsuit by former New Tecumseth Clerk Gayla McDonald, against the Town and Mike MacEachern, shines a light on some disconcerting information, in particular the suggestion that hundreds of thousands of dollars in staff raises were apparently approved by Council in private and included in the 2011 budget without anybody in the public or media catching on.
Its been less than a year since I was on Council so I can clearly recall that only very few matters are permitted to be discussed in closed session and I know that staff salaries are not one of them.
