Town responds to lawsuit

NEW TECUMSETH – The town intends to vigorously defend allegations of slander and wrongful dismissal made by former clerk Gayla McDonald, who is suing the town and Mayor Mike MacEachern for $600,000-plus in damages.
Alliston attorney Kevin Kemp is representing McDonald, who is seeking $500,000 in general damages and an additional $100,000 for punitive, exemplary and aggravated damages. Special damages are also being sought in an amount to be determined prior to trial.

The Town issued the following statement this afternoon in response to the allegations contained in Gayla McDonald’s Statement of Claim.
