Former clerk sues New Tec, mayor for $600,000-plus

NEW TECUMSETH – Two months after being fired, former New Tecumseth clerk Gayla McDonald is suing the town and its Mayor Mike MacEachern for $600,000,
Alliston attorney Kevin Kemp is representing McDonald, who is seeking $500,000 in general damages and an additional $100,000 for punitive, exemplary and aggravated damages. Special damages are also being sought in an amount to be determined prior to trial.

Former New Tecumseth Clerk Gayla McDonald has named New Tecumseth and mayor Mike MacEachern in her civil lawsuit that seeks $500,000 in general damages, $100,000 in punitive damages…,
According to the Statement of Claim, whose allegations have not been proven in a Court of law, Ms. McDonald, 56, was terminated by the Town on March 21, 2011, by “ambush” “at the direction of MacEachern” following an in camera meeting that was not published on the council agenda.
