By Bob Bruton – Barrie Examiner May 17 2011
Plans for a new Barrie Transit system have tentatively shifted into first gear.
City councillors gave initial approval Monday to a $20.46-million public/private partnership (P3) plan to build a new transit garage on Welham Road, find a private partner to operate and maintain this facility and enter into a long-term contract of 10 or even 20 years with it to deliver bus services.
