INNISIFIL — What’s in a name? Apparently quite a bit, if that name is Innisfil.
And much to the relief of many residents, it’s going to remain that way, after council voted unanimously Wednesday night to drop any attempts to change the town’s name.

Innisfil will not be changing its name.
In front of a crowd of about 250 people, many of whom were watching the proceedings while standing in the New Town Hall foyer and an overflow room, council decided to ignore a recommendation from a consultant, and keep the existing name for the Town of Innisfil.

NNISFIL — Rest easy Innisfilians, you still live in Innisfil.
Faced with a capacity crowd of upset residents, petitions and a protest song, council unanimously voted to drop the idea of changing the town’s name tonight.
