Fireworks erupted at a meeting Wednesday night where waste “combustion” was suggested as a solution for the city’s trash.
Waste management advisory committee (WMAC) member Dick Sleep proposed that combusting solid waste — known as energy-from-waste — be considered as a method for disposing of the city’s garbage that cannot be recycled.
“It is now time to approach our partners in Simcoe County and come up with a plan to dispose of the residual waste left over after recycling ,” Sleep said.
WMAC member Kelly Clune disagreed.
