Work on the Holland Marsh Drainage Improvement project – dredging or relocating 27.8 km. of canals, at a cost of about $26 million – is currently ahead of schedule, despite the challenges, Drainage Superintendent Frank Jonkman Jr. told an audience at the Muck Vegetable Growers Conference, March 31. “Basically, everything is going well.”
But he also had a warning: 2011 is going to be the first full year of construction, and residents can expect some road closures, and inconvenience.
