A Calgary based land banker has submitted plans to develop an urban industrial park on 62.7 hectares (155 acres) of property on Industrial Parkway at Church Street South in Alliston.
Walton International Group, which reportedly owns more than 1,400 hectares of land in New Tecumseth, wants to divide its holdings at 6857 and 7005 Industrial Parkway into 12 lots of varying sizes, with a storm water management pond. Walton paid more than $11 million for the property in 2010.
Permitted uses include accessory administrative offices; retail sale of goods produced on the premise; automotive body shop, auto garage, private airfield, bulk fuel depot, contractor’s shop or yard; dry cleaning establishment, manufacturing and warehousing, printing and publishing establishment, propane and natural gas conversion and distribution establishment.
The proposal does not seek an amendment to the Official Plan or Zoning, but Walton will have to win approval for the Holding Zone to be removed, in addition to the subdivison approval.
If approved, this development would be the first non-Honda related industrial development to take place on Industrial Parkway. The subject site is serviced.
